Submissions

THEPAPERBAGWRITER will continue to exist so long as there is interest and as long as there are submissions. While we'll consider unsolicited submissions for all of the sections on our site, the submission procedures vary slightly from section to section. All submissions should be sent to submit@thepaperbagwriter.org with your name, email address and phone number so we can contact you if you're work is accepted, also include a brief bio for us to post alongside your submission.

For Literary Submissions: All fiction and poetry submissions should be sent as attached word documents labeled with the contributors name and the title of the piece (without spaces.)

For Other Text Submissions: All other text submissions should be sent as attached word documents labeled with the contributors name and the subject subject matter (e.g johndoeartreview.)

For Image Submissions: All visual art and photographic submissions should be sent as attached image files in either JPEG or PDF format labeled with the contributors name and number (e.g johndoe1.) If possible limit the size of each images to 3MB.

For Project Submissions: Project result submissions can be sent as attached image files in either JPEG or PDF format labeled with the contributors name and number to projects@thepaperbagwriter.org

For Studio Visits: While most of our studio visits are selected by our staff, we occasionally accept submissions. To be considered for a studio visit send a link to a portfolio or website containing your work. Please bear in mind that we are a New York based site and so most of the artists we visit live in the New York area.

For Manuscript Submissions: Brown Paper Press, our publisher, is now accepting manuscripts of poetry, fiction, photography and criticism to publish in our mini-book series "paper bags". Send all manuscripts as attached PDF files or Word Documents labeled manuscript and the authors name (e.g manuscriptjohndoe.)

A Note About Submissions: Because of our small size and general lack of funding we are unable to pay contributors at this time. However, if your work is chosen for our print journal, Brown Paper, you will be entitled to two contributor copies of the issue you are in with the option to buy as many more as you'd like at cost.
